PieceTrail Support

Plan rectangular pieces, check the cut sizes, then follow one cut at a time. PieceTrail works offline without an account.

Make and follow a plan

  1. Enter usable fabric width in inches. Add one size per line, for example A: 20 x 10 x 2. Decimals and fractions are supported.
  2. Choose cut sizes or finished sizes. Finished widths and lengths each get two seam allowances. Check the resulting cut sizes before continuing.
  3. Square the fabric, remove selvages and prepare the exact R0 rectangle shown. Use one layer, set extra fabric aside and keep TOP and LEFT labels throughout.
  4. Follow each measurement and cut instruction. Mark a step done after cutting. Reopen the app to continue from your saved position.

Layouts use a fixed direction and are not guaranteed to use the least fabric. Net length excludes shrinkage, squaring and pattern matching. Screen diagrams are not rulers.

Editing or starting with new fabric

Editing hides the old instructions. Regenerating the same list and settings resumes saved progress; a changed plan starts at preparation. Recheck uncut fabric before using a changed plan.

For new fabric, choose Start a new plan, even when the sizes are identical. Confirming clears the current list and cutting position but keeps your fabric settings. If saving fails, the old plan stays available; check the message and retry.

Saved-file problems

PieceTrail does not automatically overwrite an unreadable file. After confirmation, it preserves a local copy before starting a fresh session. The app cannot restore that copy. Delete the app, rather than offload it, to remove all its local session data and copies; system backups are managed separately.
